Student Centre Help

Student Centre Counters 

Student Centre counters are currently open

Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm (10am to 6pm Wednesdays)

We are also available to support you online via live chat and our Academic Engagement Librarians and Learning Developers are able to offer advice online. 

Study Spaces

All libraries provide designated group, individual and distanced individual study space. Posters clearly identify these spaces. For the safety and comfort of all, please respect the guidelines outlined on the posters. If you need further information, please check with customer services staff onsite.

Online Chat

Customer services staff are also available to help with your queries via our online chat service

This service is available:

We know how easy it is to get stuck and we want to help you resolve any issues as quickly as possible. We can usually do this in one chat but will direct your query onwards if necessary.

We respond to chat requests in an average of just 11 seconds and our user rating is 3.8 out of four stars.

Compass Enquiry System

Streamline your enquiries and get the support you need with Compass, our enquiry management system.
Track your enquiries submitted to various university teams and log in to Compass here. For further assistance, contact the Student Centre.

How can we can help with research writing and other academic skills

We have a team of Academic Engagement Librarians and Learning Developers who work with students to develop academic skills, including academic writing, researching, thinking, and study skills.  We offer individual appointments which can be booked through Engage

These will be available online via Blackboard collaborate and the link will be sent to you in advance of your appointment

Academic Learning Development online support

Academic Learning Development support includes, but is not limited to:

  • structuring and clarifying your written ideas and arguments
  • undertaking literature reviews and dissertations
  • critical and reflective thinking and writing
  • time management and effective study techniques
  • delivering effective presentations
