Guide to Library and Archive Services: Students registered with Disability Learning Support

Students registered with Disability Learning Support

We are aware that some of our extended loan and disabled users may need additional help or services.

Disability Learning Support (DLS) are available to help you explore how the university can support you throughout your time at Westminster but you are always welcome to contact us with any library-related queries. We suggest you email your Academic Engagement Librarian initially if you have any concerns that have not been addressed already via contact with DLS.

Postal loans

We offer a postal loans service for students who are unable to come to the library to collect reserved items or who experience difficulties reading items online.

The postal service is for students who have been assessed by our colleagues in Disability Learning Support (DLS) and given eligibility to borrow books for an extended period due to their disability. If you feel you are likely to qualify for this service, but have not yet been assessed you can go to the DLS webpages for information on registering with them. They will explore how the university can support you throughout your time at Westminster.

If you are an academic member of staff who may experience difficulties using the book collection service please contact your Academic Liaison Librarian

Requesting postal loans

To request a loan via post please contact us via chat or our out of hours contact form.

When requesting items, you will need to provide the following information:

Book title

Author(s)

Location number/letters of item (know as a shelf mark or Dewey number)

Edition (if relevant)

(Please note: Items must be available in the Library. If books are on loan, we will not be able to fulfill the request.)

We will aim to post items to your address within a week. You can request up to five items at a time and can borrow a maximum of 15 items.

Please note that whilst we strive to offer the highest standard of service at all times the unpredictable and evolving nature of the global situation means that this service is subject to change and withdrawal at short notice.
